![]() My new publication The Art of Fused Glass Enamel Painting will be shipping by the end of December and have already received more than 300 pre-orders on the book. This is very exciting that there are so many talented fused glass artists eager to learn my processes and applications and increase their own skill set! In addition to the publication, I am very proud to add select Colors for Earth enamels and products, and Unique Glass Colors products to my shopping page. These products round out many of the other products which I produce: original designed rubber stamps, water slide decals, acrylic artist wrist rests, and acrylic stands with jars for mixing your enamels and keeping them organized in the work space. The enamel products added to my website are for the convenience of students unable to shop at retailers being in remote areas with no other options. I support the local retailers and their stocking product lines that I use and teach with in their studios. We need these retailers not only for convenience in shopping but more importantly expert advise and assistance with education and the ability to take workshops by so many wonderfully talented glass instructors the studios bring in from all over. This year I have also launched a new closed group Facebook page - Workshop Students of Mark Hufford to continue supporting what was learned in workshops attended, or with a purchase of tutorial that provides eligibility to access the group. It is a great group of talent at all levels of experience with a lot of sharing regardless of the enamel brands used. Each manufacturer has their product specific support groups on Facebook to assist the users of their products and understandably discussion is limited to the use of their products only. So what's coming in 2019? There will be several new tutorials being released and many with product kits to accompany them so you have everything you need to get started. I have also been working on and planning a new tutorial series on drawing in graphite for the beginner. As my travel schedule settles in and confirmations to post those dates, the Scheduled Workshop page will be updated AND I am adding several classes to my home studio list! Just south of Austin in Buda, Texas my home studio classes are limited to 4 students making it an extremely relaxing and fun environment to learn in. I also offer private instruction targeted to your specific area of interest in fused glass painting techniques. That pretty much wraps up this blog post. It has been a very exciting and year of change for me as an artist and instructor with a lot of support from friends and family. Cheers!

9/15/2018 2 Comments Changes in 2018It has been one year so far and I am not that diligent at keeping up with this blog!
I have made a few changes and expanding my use and knowledge of many brands of fired glass products. Diversity allows me to reach a wider audience and student base eager to learn many of the techniques I use and have developed in my fused glass painting. While I still use Colors for Earth products, I am now teaching with Hues 2 Fuse from Creative Paradise Molds, UGC from Unique Glass Colors, and doing much more with EZ Fire enamels from Fusemaster. Several months ago I started a new closed Facebook group - Workshop Students of Mark Hufford. This is a group where discussion is open regardless of the brand of enamels you are using, or if you are using two or more in the same projects! I am doing a LOT of that lately and finding that the four I use play nicely together!! To gain access to this group one must have attended a live workshop or one of my webinars. This year three new video tutorials have been completed and have quickly become my favorites allowing my to revive more traditional art skills I have used my entire life. Unique Glass Colors Layering Mix tutorial, UGC Details & Quill Pens, and my first traditional tutorial in scratchboard with alcohol inks. There are still several tutorials in production, but my main focus in the down time is to complete my book The Art of Fused Glass Painting with a projected release in Spring 2019. I am so excited about it because it will cover everything from tools, mixing enamels, techniques I use frequently, and even some great reminders for those who don't paint often. The book will not be project based but more about the enamels and other fired art products with their different uses. It will be accompanied by a disk of PDF designs for the user to make color choices and scale to their liking. Another bit in the news is I am teaching at AAE Glass in March 2019! I am thrilled to be teaching two classes. One with a new Rolling River Rock piece (and new techniques for that process!!), and tropical botanical pieces in fused glass enamels. I just know I will need to leave room in my car for shopping while I am there! To top it all off this year I also married my partner of 15 years on June 9th. We had a wonderful time in Ohio with family celebrating our marriage. I hope to be more active in my blog in 2019 and sharing a little more in the line of tips and short video demo's for my followers. That's the plan and I am dedicate to all who are willing to learn! Anyone can do what I do - #1 takes desire, #2 it takes PRACTICE (make a personal commitment to yourself to do that, you deserve it!), and #3 time. I didn't learn all of this overnight its taken a lifetime but its never too late! Cheers! 11/14/2017 4 Comments Customer Appreciation SaleEach year I try to offer a special discount to customers who have purchased video tutorials, download projects and some limited merchandise I offer exclusively. Soon tutorials and downloadable versions. fused glass originals for sale and drawing tutorials will all be under one roof! Somehow in the cluster of changes the domain letstalkgraphite.com was lost. Originally it was to take visitors directly to this site.
Anyway, it is a work in progress and many new changes will be taking place now that the shopping cart feature is included! Which means those purchasing multiples will no longer have to complete a checkout transaction for each item! There are still edits to do with USPS shipping but for now it is set up by item count. International shipping will be determined and difference billed via PayPal. I have support helping with configuring those shipping costs. My goal is to maintain at least one blog entry a week talking about fused glass, drawing, and more. I hope you will visit often! |
