9/15/2018 2 Comments Changes in 2018It has been one year so far and I am not that diligent at keeping up with this blog!
I have made a few changes and expanding my use and knowledge of many brands of fired glass products. Diversity allows me to reach a wider audience and student base eager to learn many of the techniques I use and have developed in my fused glass painting. While I still use Colors for Earth products, I am now teaching with Hues 2 Fuse from Creative Paradise Molds, UGC from Unique Glass Colors, and doing much more with EZ Fire enamels from Fusemaster. Several months ago I started a new closed Facebook group - Workshop Students of Mark Hufford. This is a group where discussion is open regardless of the brand of enamels you are using, or if you are using two or more in the same projects! I am doing a LOT of that lately and finding that the four I use play nicely together!! To gain access to this group one must have attended a live workshop or one of my webinars. This year three new video tutorials have been completed and have quickly become my favorites allowing my to revive more traditional art skills I have used my entire life. Unique Glass Colors Layering Mix tutorial, UGC Details & Quill Pens, and my first traditional tutorial in scratchboard with alcohol inks. There are still several tutorials in production, but my main focus in the down time is to complete my book The Art of Fused Glass Painting with a projected release in Spring 2019. I am so excited about it because it will cover everything from tools, mixing enamels, techniques I use frequently, and even some great reminders for those who don't paint often. The book will not be project based but more about the enamels and other fired art products with their different uses. It will be accompanied by a disk of PDF designs for the user to make color choices and scale to their liking. Another bit in the news is I am teaching at AAE Glass in March 2019! I am thrilled to be teaching two classes. One with a new Rolling River Rock piece (and new techniques for that process!!), and tropical botanical pieces in fused glass enamels. I just know I will need to leave room in my car for shopping while I am there! To top it all off this year I also married my partner of 15 years on June 9th. We had a wonderful time in Ohio with family celebrating our marriage. I hope to be more active in my blog in 2019 and sharing a little more in the line of tips and short video demo's for my followers. That's the plan and I am dedicate to all who are willing to learn! Anyone can do what I do - #1 takes desire, #2 it takes PRACTICE (make a personal commitment to yourself to do that, you deserve it!), and #3 time. I didn't learn all of this overnight its taken a lifetime but its never too late! Cheers!
