The class will meet every Wednesday evening at 6:30pm CST from July 21st - August 18th via ZOOM.

Please be sure read the course outline below before registering!!!
  • There are no refunds once registered as seating is limited to 10 seats.
  • Students must make a commitment to the time and dates scheduled. There will be no make-up time, personal emails, or private consultations.
  • All students will work on the same project assignments issued. Deadlines will be set for assignments to be posted for review.
  • Each week I will discuss and demonstrate the fundamentals of Watercolor Painting techniques and provide weekly exercises and assignment. A complete supply list will be provided to you with the email address you provide in your registration and you must obtain these materials before the first session on Wednesday July 21st.
  • A webcam is required for all registrants. If you do not have one, there are many USB options available.
  • There is a private Facebook group set up for posting weekly assignments and video critiques and feedback in student’s photo album within the group. Instructions for posting your assignments are in the announcements in the group you will gain access to. Any and all questions must be posted to this group – no private messaging or emailing. The video critiques will be posted weekly to your photo album.
  • ABOUT POSTING ASSIGNMENTS – Assignments should be scanned in high resolution. NOTE: If you cannot scan your assignment images in full color, you must take the photographs in clear unobstructed overhead view and in natural daylight - outside, high resolution on your cell phone camera, cropped to eliminate all the fluff and surroundings, and posted to your photo album in the Facebook group in the correct orientation.
  • Students will have the ability to record the weekly meetings on their computers for their personal use.  These recordings may not be shared, used for teaching, copied and redistributed, or posted to social media. By registering for this course you are agreeing to these terms.
  • Download the free ZOOM app HERE.

Registrants will be sent the invitation to the weekly meetings with the link and password. It is your responsibility to save these emails with the information!

Week One – I will provide a complete overview of the materials and supplies, demonstrations on how each is used, and demonstration of the techniques and tips for the week one assignment. Focus on the materials and techniques. Handouts will be emailed after the meeting.
Week Two – This week will be more about color and how to use it effectively. This week the theme is abstract florals and landscapes.
Week Three – Focus this week is about refining and detailing effects in the landscape painting started in week two.
Week Four – Simple still life painting. Image supplied. Begin planning for final assignment.
Week Five – Final assignment and subject choice of landscape, still life, or botanical subject matter.
The reference image you are going to use will be posted in week one.

The important thing to remember is that this is a journey you have chosen to undertake that will require not only practice, but some discipline and positive thinking! Rome wasn’t built in a day; I did not achieve my skill level overnight! It boils down simply to your desire to learn, and your willingness to practice and allow yourself the time for discovery! Each of the assignments in the course are planned to help you slowly build your skill level, increase your observation skills, and most importantly your confidence.
