5 weekly Class Meetings on ZOOM are on Wednesday evenings from 5:30 to 7:30pm CST. Webcam and audio are required by all registrants. Classes are live, and socially interactive. Meeting dates are January 10th, 17th, 21st, 31st and February 7th. Basic drawing skills are recommended for this course.
Seating is limited in this course.
Demonstrations and lectures in the meetings each week will cover the weekly topics and exercises students will complete and post to the class Facebook group for video feedback. You will not be painting live during the class meetings. Students will be given permission to record the meetings to their computer for personal use. Recordings will not be provided by other means.
Final projects will be due Sunday February 18th for final video feedback giving you two weeks to work on final projects. Subject matter for finals will be students choice of landscape, still life, or wildlife.
Download two PDF files in your payment receipt - one is supply list which you may already have, and the second is the ZOOM registration link you must complete for your meeting access.
In this intro to oil painting course the focus on final projects will be animals or wildlife. Students will learn the fundamentals of oil painting, brush strokes, mixing colors, using mediums and additives to expedite and reduce dry time of the paints through a series of weekly exercises that are completed on inexpensive small canvas panels. The exercises will include a variety of subject matter other than animal or wildlife expose you to different techniques. Final projects will be the subject of students choosing and will be done on a primed stretched canvas no smaller than 11" x 14" in size.
In this course we will use low and no odor cleaners and oils.
A complete supply list will be provided via email after registration which will include a link to complete you registration and link to ZOOM for the weekly lecture and demonstration meetings. Materials and supplies for the course are available to purchase on Amazon, Dick Blick, and Jerry's Artorama if you do not have a local art supply store. I recommend Gamblin for quality, environmentally safe, and ease of use.
A Facebook group will also be listed for you to join for the duration of the course as we have done in all previous virtual classes with posting guidelines of exercises remaining the same. A photo album will be assigned to each registrant in the group to upload your images with narratives for 1:1 video feedback each week.
There are no refunds or transfer of registration to other classes on virtual courses.
