How virtual courses are hosted.
1. Virtual courses run 4-8 weeks depending on the course and the art medium.
2. Classes meet weekly LIVE via ZOOM once a week for lecture, demonstrations, questions and answers, and handouts for the weekly exercises. Meetings are normally on Wednesday evenings from 5:30 - 7:30PM CST.
3. Webcams and audio are required by all registrants. Classes are live, social, and interactive much the same as an in person class.
4. Meeting recordings are not provided. Registrants will be provided permission to record the demonstrations to their computer for their personal use to refer to when working the exercises or projects.
5. A private class Facebook group is set up for the term of the class where students post their weekly exercise assignments to their own photo albums. They then receive 1:1 video feedback on each exercises and their final projects. Posts after the deadline each week will receive written feedback.
6. Registration is per student and may not be cancelled.
7. Materials and Supply list is downloaded on registration. A general supply list is posted in the class description.

Student Testimonials on Virtual Courses
Wildlife and Animals in Soft Pastels Course
“Mark, this has been an intense, yet incredible class. I have probably learned more about pastels and color in general than I ever thought possible. When we began the first pastel class, I really had my doubts. I was questioning myself, but more so, I had reservations about my ability to grasp the concept. I am so happy I took this second course and gave it another go. I can't thank you enough for your patience and perseverance with me!!! I am looking forward to starting another piece!!
It has been an incredible journey. When I think back to ALL of us (almost 3 years ago!) beginning this journey, and looking at the amazing pieces everyone has accomplished, it is so exciting to see how far we have all come! You are an amazing instructor and should be so proud of these accomplishments!! I'm sure it wasn't easy, lol.
Thank you doesn't seem good enough!! I really look forward to future classes and continuing to climb this ladder!!!” Cheri
“Mark, This has been a great course, I've loved every minute. I feel confident in tackling more pets and animals and actually enjoy that more than landscapes. I'm collecting photos of the next things I want to do in pastels - my puppy and a bee on flowers. Thank you so much.” Janice
Fused Glass Enamels
"I am so pleased with my glass work from the Winter Landscape Glass Class. I have shown to many friends and they all agree it is outstanding. I took this class with Mark after attending another in person class that featured painting an Iris. He is an exceptional and well prepared teacher giving great tips and suggestions for improvement as we work through the process of painting on glass. The online class offers many advantages. Mark allowed us to record the sessions. This allowed me to review the process before and during the process of painting my piece. The best part is the feedback he uses after we post our project. Mark uses photoshop and demonstrates how to improve our piece using layers. I reviewed this many times as I was working on the next lesson. For me, this was an exceptional way to see how he would improve my own piece. I look forward to his next offering of painting landscapes and will sign up." Janet
"I have taken several of Mark’s class in the past couple of years. I have learned so much through his step by step instruction and his honest critique of my work progress. I am able to replay the webinar as I paint which is super helpful to me. Definitely money and time well spent! I always look forward to taking his classes." Gail
"I cannot say enough about Mark. He is an amazing teacher and guide. I've learned so much in this class which is my first ever class, but it won't be my last. Mark has patience and kindness when you are struggling with something. His private critiques are spot on. He is a true artist who also has the talent to teach. Linda
"After reading your two books, and buying a kiln, I felt overwhelmed. This class was perfect, demonstrating most of the basic techniques in your books. It is much easier to learn when you actually use the products and the techniques demonstrated. The video feedbacks are invaluable to improve and correct my errors. Need to practice, esp. the quill pin and outlining. Thanks again, Mark." Donna
"I appreciated the clear and simple explanations you gave prior to us attempting each project. I also liked that you forewarned us of some of the pitfalls you have seen, or experienced, so that we could avoid them, making our projects more successful." Ilene
"I was apprehensive of taking this course since this was entirely new to me- but I am so happy that I decided to do it! The teaching was on point and having the visual of Mark Hufford showing us what to do really helped me catch on to each new technique. Each week was a new technique with new products introduced- all very well explained with projects for us to complete and I learned so much! Certainly have a new appreciation for all of Mark’s art pieces !" Judy
"I think what I appreciated MOST about this course, is that it set me up to really discover a lot about my 'thinking process/approach' to the task of painting and trying these techniques. While my pieces may not have been as glorious as I had hoped, the value of the 'lessons learned' while completing them, and while receiving feedback on what happened in my process, was invaluable! Im much more comfortable handling the products, much more comfortable trying these different techniques and MUCH more comfortable making mistakes...because it was in those mistakes where I learned SO much. The feedback was great! Direct, to the point, with explanations of what happened in my approach/thinking that caused the mistake. Loved this course and wish it could have been many many more weeks!" Stephen
" I really enjoyed Mark's class. He is such a delight to learn from. It's really about the student and not about him, the teacher. So often, it's the other way around. And I actually love this format. It's actually better than being at a class at a studio. You can record the class, ask questions, etc. and then you can work at your own pace to do the project. And then Mark gives you feedback in a very meaningful way. Excellent." Tana
Drawing
"Mark is a wonderful teacher. I have taken the beginner drawing and the Animals and Wildlife drawing courses. He not only demonstrates the techniques, but then gives you an honest video critique of your drawings. A great learning experience. I highly recommend these courses." Donna
"I had hope and desire but zero confidence when I started Mark's beginner drawing class. He is such a talented instructor that in no time I was amazing myself! The class was so much fun, I soon forgot to be nervous and just started drawing.” Carolyn
“Great class! Mark is a very patient, encouraging and talented instructor. Results of the beginning class far exceeded my expectations.” Beth
“Well THAT class was fun! From not being able to draw a stick figure to an amazing detailed bird, we all surprised ourselves! Mark teaches us to actually look at our subject and see the nuances of shade and light in their various forms! Wish I had taken the class years ago. What a difference it’s making in my projects!” Wendy
"I have known Mark many years and have taken several of his classes. He has a unique approach to teaching that far surpasses anyone else. I have seen first-hand those who had never picked up a pencil in their life become incredible artists. Learning to draw has opened many avenues and new media. I can't tell you what a difference his classes have made in my work!” Cheri
